On September 26, the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies’ Col (Ret.) Mark Gunzinger, Director for Future Concepts and Capability Assessments, presented to an international audience at the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) Air Command and Staff College’s first Air and Space Power Symposium. His briefing on the employment and future operational concepts of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCAs) was based on the initial findings of a Mitchell Institute wargame conducted in July. The final report is scheduled to be published in November this year.
On September 27, Mitchell’s Mark Gunzinger and Kamilla Gunzinger followed up the symposium with a visit to the Center for Air and Space Power Strategic Studies at Japan Air Self-Defense Force Meguro Base, where they led a discussion on operational wargaming for developing concepts of operation. The exchange was promising for possible future international support of or collaboration on JASDF wargaming efforts.
