Press Release – Henry Heren joins the Mitchell Institute Team as Senior Fellow for Space Studies

The Mitchell Institute’s Spacepower Advantage Center of Excellence is pleased to announce the addition of Henry Heren as its new Senior Fellow for Space Studies. His expertise is especially important given spacepower’s increasing impact on America’s security interests.

Henry ‘Blue’ Heren is a retired U.S. Space Force Lieutenant Colonel with more than 30 years of military service and is a Master Space Operator. He has operational and planning experience in assignments focusing on space, cyberspace, and electronic warfare operations. He served at Air & Space Operations Centers, Numbered Air Forces, Pacific Air Forces Headquarters, the National Security Agency, Headquarters Air Force, a NATO-accredited Centre of Excellence, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff positions. He took part in Operation ODYSSEY DAWN and deployed in support of Operations NOBLE EAGLE and IRAQI FREEDOM. He has extensive experience in developing Air Force, Space Force, Joint, and Combined plans, strategy, and policy. This wide-ranging background makes him uniquely qualified to contribute to Mitchell Institute’s mission.

Lt Gen David Deptula, USAF (Ret.), Dean of the Mitchell Institute, commented “Henry’s experience with space, cyberspace, and electronic warfare operations, as well as developing strategy and policy, makes him a great addition to the Mitchell Institute Spacepower Advantage Center of Excellence.”
