On April 27, Lt Gen Dave Deptula, USAF (Ret.), Dean of the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, delivered a keynote address to the Hellenic Air Force’s 8th Annual Air Power Conference. This gathering brought together some of the foremost thought leaders and operational experts on airpower from throughout the NATO alliance, industry, and academia. The Hellenic Air Force is a keystone of the Mediterranean and Southern European security architecture, flies one of the world’s largest F-16 fleets, and plans to procure F-35s.
Gen Deptula’s address was on “The Value of Aerospace Power in the 21st Century,” in which he provided an overview of the global security environment and the importance of concerted action against aggression. Gen Deptula stated, “Make no mistake, autocrats’ ambitions do not end at Ukraine and Taiwan. I know that the men and women in this room are ready to stand in solidarity with our allies to stop these events from coming to pass. Greece is the ancient birthplace of democracy, and I have no doubt that it will continue to lead the way in a bright, free future.”
