The Cornhusker State played a critical role during the Cold War as the home of Strategic Air Command—a major US Air Force Command responsible for Cold War nuclear deterrence between 1946-1992. Nebraska is also home of Clayton Anderson, a NASA astronaut who conducted 6 EVAs and is now the President and CEO of the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum in Ashland, NE.
